What is Palm Therapy?:

Moshe Zwang – the founder of Palm Therapy – wrote the following definition:

“Palmtherapy is a powerful breakthrough for rapidly relieving emotional suffering and for accelerating human potential through the hand/brain/mind connection, reaching the brain through the (touch and nontouch) stimulation of various areas and lines on the palms of the hands which are related to brain/mind activity and the personality.”

Are ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Palm Therapy’ related?

Probably the biggest difference is the fact that ‘Reflexology’ can applied be to various body parts (feet, hands, ears, and more), and ‘Palm Therapy’ is only applied to the hand (the palm).

Another major difference between ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Palm Therapy’ is that the basics of ‘Palm Therapy’ are fundamentally related to the basics in the field of Palmistry. For example: Moshe Zwang’s first book ‘Palm Therapy: Program Your Mind through Your Palms’, includes a large chapter describing some basic ‘Palmistry’. Rather remarkable, experts from these fields have confirmed that the basic principles of ‘Reflexology’ are hardly related to Palmistry!!

In both ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Palm Therapy’ massage techniques are applied to certain body parts, to create an effect OUTSIDE these body parts. This is a major difference compared the classical massage techniques – for these are usually used to create an effect WITHIN the (massaged) body part.

But there is a third major difference between ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Palm Therapy’. In general ‘Reflexologists’ usually claim that ‘Reflexology’ can be used to treat physical problems – providing ‘relaxation’ is one of basic benefits here. The benefits of ‘Palm Therapy’ are more related to psychological problems – however again, relaxation plays a major part in this technique as well!

Both ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Palm Therapy’ have been adopted to scientific research programs. Only recently, two very interesting ‘Palm Therapy’ studies were presented:

  • Healing by gentle touch reduces stress and pain
  • Palmtherapy relieving Anxiety before Cardiac Catheterization in Heart Patients
