Did you know that you have a spot on both of your hands which has been rubbed for thousands for years - bringing notable relief to headaches!? According Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this spot corresponds to the adrenal glands; clearing blockages from the adrenal glands' energy circuit will likely bring new life force and vitality!

Maybe the biggist mystery is that various alternative therapies - like for example:

• PALM THERAPY;
• HAND REFLEXOLOGY;
• ACUPRESSURE;

... provide different theories for the biggest unanswered question: 'why does the ultimate 'handshaking-yourself' work?'

Olivia Rosewood explains the basics of this awesome example of self-therapy:

"To give yourself a break from a headache or even just a bit more zip in your doo-da, find the most tender spot between your thumb and forefinger. Use your other thumb and forefinger to pinch this spot from the top and palm of your hand, the way you might pinch a penny should there be a world-wide financial crisis. Take a few deep breaths, and release this spot when you have an indication that you have unblocked this energy point: usually your pain subsides."

Massage therapist Rekha Von Ehren explains why a fancy technique or position will not make successfull. It's the 'touch' that really matters. Von Ehren describes 10 reflexology & massage tips to give your love a perfect Valentine's Day.

You can learn Von Ehren's basic & easy hand reflexology techniques today!

What you should never forget: hands and feet are microcosms of the body.

Experts in hand reflexology & palm therapy says that when the approach is tender, hands and feet can signal the interior of the body. So, in theory, you can touch a person's heart by massaging the ball of the upper part of the thumb ball, or tap into your beloved's brain by massaging the tip of the thumb & fingers!!

A Kunz & Kunz reflexology study

Recently reflexology pioneers Barbara & Kevin Kunz have presented a year-long study which indicates that reflexology is 93% effective in its application to 78 physical and mental conditions.

A survey report of 168 studies from twenty-three countries.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) November 19, 2008 - Reflexology is 93% effective in its application to 78 physical and mental conditions. The analysis is the focus of the newly released Evidence-Based Reflexology Series by Barbara Kunz and Kevin Kunz. The key to success with reflexology, as documented by Kunz and Kunz, is the frequency and duration with which it is applied. Evidence-Based Reflexology presents both results and how much technique application has been found to positively impact physical and mental conditions.

This breakthrough study by Barbara Kunz and Kevin Kunz documents research-based evidence sufficient to state that: Reflexology can be an effective complement in the treatment of certain conditions. Though sceptics might point to the fact the Kunz study does not present any scientific details and can be viewed as an advertisment for their selfmade reflexology, the study does report research results on e.g.: Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (FMRI), pain reduction, mental illness, & cancer patients.

The basics of ear reflexology

Every ear is unique, and no two are alike! Your ears are like the fingerprints and your ears can be read to reveal about your health, personality & your true nature. Ear reflexology is a diagnostic tool, and by stimulating points on your ears that correspond to different parts of the body, one can use ear reflexology for a healing treatment.

The history of ear reflexology can be traced back to Chinese and Egyptian medical work of about 3000 to 4000 years ago. Nowadays ear reflexology is a fast growing therapy - very related to acupuncture. Ear reflexology is based on the reflex zones and reflex points in the ears which relate to the meridians and other body parts. For example: when you have stomach problems, you should stimulate the stomach reflexology area on each ear; when you have eye problems, stimulate the eye reflexology areas. Ear reflexology is also a safe self-therapy, but you should always check with your health professional before trying them for the first time.

The Korean Hand Therapy (K.H.T.) is a reflexology system for awakening the body to health and wellness through your hands. By stimulating specific points and reflex zones in your hands, you can use K.H.T. to resolve pain, balance internal organ function.

Korean Hand Therapy - or: Koryo Hand Therapy - includes the reflexology level of treatment, similar in concept to the reflexology of the foot. The Korean Hand Therapy reflex chart of the hand was discovered in 1971 by Dr. Tae-Woo Yoo, O.M.D., Ph.D. in Korea. The systems has been clinically and experimentally tested for it's accuracy.

Korean Hand Therapy also includes the entire acupuncture meridian energy system on the hand.

The Koryo Hand Therapy Systems was founded by Dr. Dan Lobash, Ph.D., L.Ac. to promote the teaching and clinical applications of K.H.T. throughout the United States and Canada.

Is reflexology safe?

In pregnancy you want to make sure that everything you do is safe for you and your baby. Some reflexologists prefer not to treat a pregnant woman, but others say it is no big deal at all. Therefore it might be interesting for you to take notice of the opinions of some experts in the related fields:

Freelance writer (and mother of three young children) Hannah Hulme Hunter - who worked as a midwife in London and Ghana (with VSO) says about reflexology in pregnancy:

"Reflexology is generally considered safe in pregnancy, provided all is well with your pregnancy and your reflexologist knows that you're pregnant."

Reflexology authors Barbara and Kevin Kunz write in their book 'Complete reflexology for life':

"A miscarriage is a reaction of the body, NOT a reaction to reflexology. Under no circumstances has reflexology ever been shown to have caused the body to do something it didn't want to do."

The Association of Reflexologists (AOR) says that the major reason that some reflexologists refuse to treat a pregnant woman during the first trimester, is due to a misplaced patient fear that reflexology may cause a miscarriage:

""There is no evidence to even suggest that this may be the case," the AOR says. "However, as miscarriages are more common in the first term of pregnancy, some reflexologists are not prepared to take the risk that the client may blame them should a miscarriage occur."

Reflexology & Pregnancy

Pregnant women in Gloucestershire is offered a scala of complementary therapies, including reflexology and massage during childbirth. About 26 per cent of the 6,000 mums at the Cheltenham General Hospital and the Gloucestershire Royal hospital are now opting this fabulous opportunity.

Midwife Asha Dhany, who is a trained reflexologist + massage therapist, has led the initiative. She describes:

"Feedback has been positive and it's working very well. Some women say it's just like going to a spa rather than being in a clinical environment."

SOME COMMENTS FROM THE YOUNG MOTHERS

Alexandra O'Connell, from Prestbury, benefited from the massage therapies as she gave birth to her daughter Daisy-Ann. She said: “I used essential oils to help ease the pain of the contractions and to help the whole process along. It was nice to be able to do something for myself and the whole experience was very pleasant.”

Vicki Little, another young mum, said: “It's great that women have so many options these days. Any therapy that can help has to be welcomed.”

MORE ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY DURING PRENANCY:

From the early stages to delivery, pregnancy can be physically and emotionally demanding. Regular gentle reflexology treatments can help with some of the conditions associated with pregnancy, such as morning sickness, nausea, headaches, water retention, constipation, stress, anxiety, sleeping problems. Reflexology can also play an important role during the last phase of pregnancy, particularly to encourage labour especially if overdue.

Alexandra O’Connell, from Prestbury, benefited from the massage therapies as she gave birth to her daughter Daisy-Ann. She said: “I used essential oils to help ease the pain of the contractions and to help the whole process along. It was nice to be able to do something for myself and the whole experience was very pleasant.”

Vicki Little, another young mum, said: “It’s great that women have so many options these days.

Reflexology in London:

Louise Keet, founder of The London School of Reflexology, has been practising and teaching Reflexology for fifteen years and has trained thousands of students from all over the world.

Recently she was described by the Mail on Sunday as: ‘Britain’s leading Reflexology practitioner’.

HOW DOES REFLEXOLOGY WORK?

Louise Keet is a reflexologist in London and she writes on her website about the hand reflexology course:

"The hand reflexology course is officially recognized by the Association of Reflexologists as a Continuing Professional Development course and carries with it two points per hour towards your mandatory requirements as a reflexologist.

The latest news is that Louise's reflexology book called 'Hand Reflexology', is being reprinted this year in a smaller version. Louise is happy to announce details of the diploma in advanced hand reflexology.

The Diploma in Advanced Hand Reflexology will teach you how to be a specialist in Hand Reflexology. At the end of the course you will be able to give a complete and client centred hand reflexology treatment."
